Legal Basis for Processing
Depending on where you live and the law that applies, we process personal information because:
- it is needed for the contract we have with you, or to take steps you ask for before entering one;
- the law requires it;
- you have given your consent;
- it is needed for our legitimate business interests, where those interests do not override your rights.
Sharing Your Information
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to outside parties unless it is necessary for providing our services or required by law. In some cases, we may share information with trusted third-party partners who assist us in operating our website and conducting our business.
These can include:
- domain registries and registrars;
- payment providers;
- the suppliers of add-on products you order, such as certificate authorities and website security, backup and email providers;
- the companies that provide the infrastructure our services run on;
- professional advisers and auditors;
- regulators and law enforcement, where the law requires it.
International Transfers
Some of the suppliers listed above are based in other countries, so your personal information may be processed outside the country you live in. When that happens, the supplier handles the information under its own privacy terms, and this policy continues to apply to what we do with it.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your cart and your preferences. We do not use advertising cookies. Our Cookie Policy lists the cookies we use and explains how you can control them.
Essential cookies
Needed for the website to work and to keep it secure: they keep you signed in and remember your cart, language and currency.
Preference cookies
Remember display settings in the cart and the domain search.
Affiliate links
If you arrive through a link from one of our affiliates, a cookie records that referral so that the affiliate can be credited if you place an order.
At the date of this policy we do not use third-party analytics cookies.
Domain Registration Information
To register, renew or transfer a domain name, we must pass the registrant's contact details to the registrar and to the registry for that extension. The registry's rules decide which of those details appear in the public registration record for the domain.
Where a privacy service is available for an extension, it can reduce the amount of personal information that is shown publicly.
Hosting and Service Logs
Our systems record technical information when you use the website and your services, such as IP addresses, dates and times, and the pages or actions requested. We use it to run the services, to fix problems and to detect misuse.
These records can include server, email, DNS, firewall, sign-in and control panel logs. They are used for security, troubleshooting, preventing abuse, monitoring performance and meeting legal obligations.
Automated and AI Features
Our domain search can suggest names using an automated suggestion service. The words you type into the search are sent to that service so that it can return suggestions. Please do not enter personal information in the search box.
Data Security
Your data security is a top priority for us. We implement industry-standard measures, such as encryption and secure servers, to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, or disclosure.
Our Security Statement describes how we protect your account.
No service on the internet can be completely secure. If a security incident affects your personal information, we will respond as the law requires.
Data Retention
We keep your information for as long as you have an account or active services with us. After that we keep what we need to meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations and to resolve disputes.
| Information | How long we keep it |
|---|---|
| Your account | While it is active, and for a period afterwards |
| Invoices and financial records | For as long as tax and accounting law requires |
| Support tickets | For as long as they are needed for support or legal purposes |
| Security logs | For as long as they are needed for security |
| Your marketing choice | Until you change it |

- stop sending you marketing;
- explain how your information is being used;
- act on your withdrawal of a consent you gave earlier.
You can change most of your account details yourself in your client area.
