Try:

Everything about a domain, in one search

Works with every domain extension, from .com and .org to .ng, .co.uk and new extensions, and with IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.

WHOIS and registration

The registrar, when the domain was registered and when it expires, its status locks and nameservers, straight from the registry.

Where it's hosted

The server's IP address, the hosting company or network, its country and city, and whether the site sits behind a CDN such as Cloudflare.

DNS records

A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, NS, TXT, SOA and CAA records, plus the email provider and the SPF and DMARC settings.

Website and server

The page title and description, the web server, response time, redirects, the platform it runs on and its security headers.

SSL certificate

Who issued the certificate, the names it covers, when it expires and whether browsers trust it.

Website screenshot

A picture of the home page as a visitor sees it, so you can check a site before you click a link to it.

Domain Lookup Questions Answered

  • What is a WHOIS lookup?

WHOIS is the public record of who a domain name is registered with. A lookup shows the registrar, the important dates, the nameservers and the status of the domain. This tool reads it from the registry's modern RDAP service where there is one, and from the classic WHOIS service for registries that don't offer RDAP yet.

  • Why are the owner's name and contact details hidden?

Most registries and registrars now hide personal details to protect the owner's privacy, as required by data protection laws such as the GDPR. The registrar is still shown, and you can usually reach the owner through the registrar or the abuse contact listed in the results.

  • How do I find out where a website is hosted?

Look up the domain and open the Hosting and network section. It shows the server's IP address, the company that runs that network and where it's located. If the site uses a CDN such as Cloudflare, you'll see the CDN instead of the real server, because the CDN sits in front of it.

  • What does "Transfer lock on" mean?

It's the clientTransferProhibited status. It stops anyone moving the domain to another registrar without the owner's permission, and most domains have it. If you own the domain and want to move it, unlock it at your current registrar first and ask them for the transfer code.

  • The domain I want is taken. What can I do?

Check the expiry date: some domains aren't renewed and become available again. You can also try a different extension, such as .com.ng, .online or .store, or a slightly different name. Our domain search suggests available alternatives.

  • How do I move my domain to Cenoll digital?

Unlock the domain at your current registrar, get its transfer code, then start the transfer on our domain transfer page. Your website and email keep working while it moves.

  • Where does the screenshot come from?

Screenshots are made by WordPress.com's free screenshot service, which visits the website and takes a picture of its home page. A new screenshot can take up to half a minute to appear.
